James joined Vista Equity Partners in 2016. He co-heads the Endeavor Fund and sits on its Investment Committee.
James first began working with the firm in 2003 as a portfolio company executive. From 2003 – 2006, James served as SVP, CFO, and General Counsel at SER Solutions. Subsequent to this, James served as the President of Brainware, another Vista portfolio company, before its sale to Lexmark International in 2012. James remained with Lexmark in a corporate M&A and strategic planning role until 2014. He thereafter led the acquisition of Mi9 Retail, a provider of merchandising, business intelligence and customer-centric store operations software for retailers. As Chairman and CEO of Mi9, James completed numerous add-on acquisitions before re-joining Vista.
James began his career as a patent attorney in the New York offices of Fulbright and Jaworski, LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright).
